In 1980, Mr. Larson graduated with honors with a Bachelor of Science degree from the California State University at Fullerton.
In 1985, Mr. Larson graduated cum laude, in the top 5 percent of his class, from Whittier College School of Law, earning Dean’s List and Honor Roll designations all available semesters. As a member and editor of the Whittier Law Review, he held two editorships: Research Editor and Health Law Symposium Editor. He received four American Jurisprudence Awards (i.e., highest class score for subject): Legal Research & Writing, Community Property, Evidence, and Commercial Transactions. His law review article, Lifetime Commitment Until One Proves His Sanity—The New Plight Confronting Those Adjudged Not Guilty by Reason of Insanity, was included on a list of top law review articles published by the Los Angeles Daily Journal in 1984. Mr. Larson passed the Bar examination on his first attempt and was sworn-in in December 1985.
His first few years in practice were divided between working as an associate attorney with two law firms specializing in high-asset divorce cases and as an associate attorney for a corporate law firm specializing in banking law, most particularly mergers and acquisitions, security offerings, and bank holding company reorganizations.
Beginning on January 1, 1989, Mr. Larson joined a law-school classmate and contributed as a principal and partner to the formation and long-term growth of a civil litigation powerhouse in Beverly Hills that existed until its ultimate dissolution in 2013. This firm primarily focused on high-dollar personal injury actions, class actions, mass tort actions, consumer actions, and sophisticated business and tax litigation.
In 1998, Mr. Larson received the Alumni of the Year award from Whittier College School of Law for his significant involvement and successful results in personal injury cases featuring traumatic brain injury.
In 2005, Whittier Law School awarded Mr. Larson an honorary Doctor of Laws, Honoris Causa, for his significant accomplishments in and contributions to the law.
Mr. Larson received the Super Lawyer® designation for the years 2009 to 2013.
In addition to his endeavors as a practicing lawyer, in 2014 Mr. Larson played a central role in starting and growing a successful real estate development company that has completed 15 projects in Orange and Los Angeles counties. Mr. Larson serves as the company’s CEO and managing member. Operations have included successful and judicious use of leverage provided by a significant credit facility issued by a local business bank to the company.
